It’s already time for the second edition of Utrecht Sustainability Week to start. From October 7th to the 14th, our city will be dedicated to sustainability, with a well filled and varied program. From inspirational talks by among others Jan Terlouw, to cozy events like the Sustainability Market, Solar Cinema, Pub Quiz, kids’ workshops, and Friday afternoon drinks in the bustling heart of the festival, a greenhouse (‘de Kas’) on Domplein. A good idea for a dose of green inspiration and responsible local businesses.
You might already be aware that as a city, Utrecht is quite sustainably minded, but how exactly is less obvious. Therefore, the Utrecht Sustainability Week festival offers space for green businesses and initiatives to show us. Together with Utrecht entrepreneurs, inhabitants, pioneers and visionaries, Sustainability Week shows us what is going on and what is possible in the field of ecological sustainability. There’s a program for young and old, full workshops, readings, and deals organized by businesses like De Leckere, Restaurant Gys, and Triodos. A glass greenhouse on Domplein is the central venue. All while enjoying local snacks and drinks, you can discover the latest trends in sustainability, learn about sustainable products and services in and around Utrecht, and get in contact with inspiring initiatives.
Over the last months, an enthusiastic team of more than 100 volunteers has been working from ANNE – the Utrecht experience center for sustainable living – to prepare for Sustainability Week 2017. After the successful first editon in 2016, the ambitions this year are even higher, resulting in a fuller program, bigger names, and the heart of the festival on Domplein. The central theme this year is making your life green, and in this vein the Sustainability Week Awards 2017 are taking place for Utrecht parties who make sustainability visible, and who connect and inspire people to go green. There are prizes in the categories of Retail, Food & Hospitality, and Service, and you can vote here. Sustainability Week is expecting more than 7,500 visitors this year, so make sure you’re there too. Find more information about the events at www.duurzamweek.nl or on Facebook.
