The Central Museum has had a total makeover. On Friday, April, 22nd They celebrated the end of the three year project and presented the new and improved Centraal Museum. The opening weekend was a big party and the perfect time to explore the newly renovated building.
The opening was a big event: with drinks and bites, an awesome DJ duo, food trucks, the Moped Bios, Utrecht artists, tours and loads more. For you guys, we have a photo report of the evening. And on the ‘Explore Utrecht’ Facebook page you will find a live video report of the evening.
But it was the re-building really necessary? I visit the museum Regularly, and I always can not find my way around all the rooms. And somehow I always end up at the ‘Utrecht ship “- not one of my favorite museum pieces! Well I must confess That I do not have any sense of direction, and to blame the museum might be a bit unfair. But since the makeover the routes of the museum are much better and I have not seen the ‘Utrecht ship’ for a while now. The small and cozy courtyard, All which I always did manage to find, is no longer a secret. As it has been turned into a very large garden, with museum café and bright colorful chairs. A real ‘wow’ effect for the Centraal Museum.
All this and you have not even bone inside the museum yet! And it is surely worth a visit. The opening exhibition ” The World of Utrecht” is an ode to Utrecht. The exhibition shows That Utrecht is an international city by focusing on history and showcasing a collection of archaeological objects, old, modern and contemporary art, fashion and design.
