By now, you may already know that we love Instock and their mission: they rescue produce from supermarkets that would otherwise be thrown away, and turn it into delicious meals. (Check out our previous posts about dining and drinks!) So when they invited us to check out their new regular lunch menu, we happily accepted!
Everything about Instock is like an invitation to chill: from the friendly staff to the big, secluded terrace in bustling Lombok, and the warm fuzzy feeling of knowing you’re supporting such a great initiative. We headed over on one of the first spring days of the year and got to enjoy the sunshine outside on the couch – an excellent start!
Once we’d stopped marvelling at our good weather fortune, we checked out the menu. Would we get the shakshuka? The chipotle nachos? Some wholesome granola?
In the end, I chose the falafel fattoush and Dainahara got the fish burrito. The fattoush was fresh, zesty, and surprisingly filling. And the fish burrito was awesome: succulent fried fish with a sweet-and-sour sauce and lots of freshness from a crunchy slaw. The burrito was actually so filling that Dainahara could only eat half… a win for me. 😉 We washed it all down with some crisp, chilled white wine. You know, for good measure.
Had we been less full, we could also have gotten some extra nibbles: bitterballen, fish cakes, fries… Instead, we made the sensible choice and opted for dessert: the divine waffle and “something sweet” – a chocolate and butterscotch muffin. A delicious end to a delicious meal!
