Spending a night in Utrecht is more popular than ever, according to the numbers that Tourism Utrecht recently published. Utrecht also has a large number of well-known and lesser-known hotels and hostels. Today we’re listing 4 lesser-known, inexpensive places to stay.
Grand Hotel Karel V, Carlton President, Park Plaza, NH, Hotel Dom, Mother Goose, the Maliehotel, the Court Hotel, Apollo, Bastion, and Hotel Mitland, these are all well-known hotel formulas for those who want to spend the night in Utrecht. But the Domstad also has lots of smaller, special, and often inexpensive places to stay. And they usually have a completely different, more intimate atmosphere than the larger chains do.
Like the budget hotel Strowis in the Boothstraat, in the heart of the city centre. Strowis is located in a monumental building from the 17th century, which still has some of the original details from that time.
Or Stone Hostel Utrecht on Biltstraat in Utrecht East, a decent, neat little family hostel with both dormitories and private rooms, and a full kitchen where guests can prepare their own meals.
The simple two-star bed&breakfast Hotel Oorsprongpark on the F.C. Donderstraat is a bit further outside of the centre, but still within walking distance.
The equally simple and hospitable Hotel Sleep Well is on the Wittevrouwensingel with a gorgeous view of the canal and the dom tower, and the bustling city life around the corner.
So spending the night in Utrecht on a low budget is definitely doable. And if you’ve got a bit more to spend and you’re looking for unique places to stay, then definitely check out our hotels category.
