Hi all, my name is Suzanne, I’m 27 years old and love to travel, and write ‘online’. That why I made it my work. I’m an online PR and communications advisor and blogger. On my blog, Artikel255.nl, I write about how to make a career online and travel. My boyfriend and I live in Transwijk-North, across or the beautiful UWV building 😉
I have been living in Utrecht since April 2014. It’s a classic story: I moved to Utrecht for love. I grow up in Huizen, but moved to Amsterdam When I turned 18 for my studies. After university I was planning to stay in Amsterdam, but because my boyfriend already bought a house in Utrecht I found myself relocating to this lovely city. It overtook me a while to get used to the city. Fortunately, Utrecht is not so big and you can get to know the city pretty quick. I loved it here – it’s relaxed and peaceful – especially compared to Amsterdam!
I love to go out for dinner (who doesn’t?). When I moved to Utrecht I tried to get to know all the good spots right away, but there were loads that I was not aware of. Utrecht is getting hipster – or am I just discovering more spots by the day? Both can be the case! Anyway, my favorites are Kimmade (Vietnamese), Stan & Co (always good for a drink), Pronto Pronto (delicious and romantic), Lefebvre (get a drink), Beers & Barrels (my favorites mancave) and Company Pickles (citizens & wine). Recently I added Kantien, a new restaurant with a large terrace to my list. Super awesome! And its around the corner of my house. Oh, and I’ve had lovely dinners at the Black Vosch and San Siro.
Outside the city center you will find Key West a personal favorite. Lovely beach club, and only a 25 minutes bike ride away.
Being an online girl, I also do my shopping online. Only when I really went to see a product, I try to visit the shop. Or I have to be searching for a special item. The only shop that I actually visit is Vanilia, located at the Oudkerkhof. They always have nice items and friendly service.
I love the atmosphere of the Voorstraat. It’s a great mix of shops, take-out places, restaurants and more. Everytime I walk through the Voorstraat I discover something new. Last time I saw a hotdog place: Dogma. Other winners are SLA , Da Portare Via Saigon, GYS, and the claustrophobia continues down the street all the way to The Bakery Shop, and finally Spaghetteria. My other favorite streets are: Zadelstraat, Oudegracht leading to Ledig Erf ,and the Canal Street at Lombok. Just love that neighborhood!
Want to do more then just walk around the city? I went supping for the first time (Stand Up Paddleboarding) in Lombok with SUP School Domstad. Everyone should try it! At Molen De Ster They organize more fun events like zoals outdoor movie theater and yoga. I also follow yoga at Yogaya, located at the Westerkade and Yoga with LEF at the City Garden. But I also attend Yoga Vida in the summer on the roof terrace at SOIA which is a great location, but the service could be much better. In the category ‘wellness’ I can recommend City Spa Bali and Five City Spa .
