Are you looking forward to it too? Well, you can start experiencing the Christmas joy sooner than you would have thought ‘cause there will be several Christmas markets taking place in the streets and squares of Utrecht. All of the city center will be vibrant with activities, stalls, illuminated bridges, and delicacies. You can stroll around the markets, look for fine gifts or delicious delicacies for Christmas dinner. Afterward, sit yourself down with a cup of hot chocolate (with a tiny drop of rum of course) at one of the many cafes over there. Of course, I’ve made a list for you all. Have fun!

For the sixth time, the Julianapark will be transformed into the setting of a real Christmas tradition. With as many stories and cooperation from the neighborhood as possible, the organization will create two evenings with performances, in the most beautiful park in Utrecht. Togetherness is a recurring theme these days and certainly with the holidays! That’s why this year’s theme is: You’re part of it! So buy your tickets for this great event soon. Warm Winter Market in the Metal Cathedral – 15 December (14.00 – 18.00)
Take a nice walk through the Metaal Kathedraal and hear the most beautiful stories by the storytellers. Those who take you into their story in every room of the building, it will leave you buried in the Christmas spirit. The kids can participate in workshops, the adults can enjoy delicious cheeses, wines, and other delicacies. The products that are sold are all sustainable and made with awareness, talk to the makers and discover all the beauty.
Twijnstraat Market 15 December (11.00 – 18.00)
The oldest Christmas market in the city I have been told, is the oldest shopping street in Utrecht. There will be several stalls here on Sundays. The shopkeepers of the Twijnstraat have a place on the market, they sell clothes, fresh fish, flowers and bottles of wine. But also stallholders from outside the Twijnstraat are allowed to stand here. With delicious French sausages, local beers or traditionally baked bread. You can also stroll around here with a hot cup of mulled wine in your hand. Put on your hat, put on your mittens and go!
Stomend Beer Festival in the Railway Museum – 20 December (19.00 – 23.00)
The Streekbierfestival Utrecht will take place on the 20th of December at the Spoorwegmuseum. You can enjoy special beers from all over the world in wintery atmospheres. Before you start tasting, you may want to skate with the kids on the ice rink or take a spin on the antique carousel. Live music will create an even more cozy atmosphere. The countless lights and Christmas trees do the rest! So also a great night for a Friyay Drink!
X-MAS Swan Neude – 21/22 December (11.00 – 17.00)
It is impossible to imagine Utrecht without the Swan Market, this market is always atmospheric and cozy. Certainly with the holidays. The Neude is transformed into a true X-MAS Valhalla, you can score all your tree-presents here. And while you’re doing this, you can sin at all the fine food and drink stalls out there. Do you want to take the kids with you? You can do that very well because there is a coloring table, a bouncy castle and other games. Happy X-MAS!
Christmas atmosphere days at Geertjes Hoeve Haarzuilens 15 / 22 December (11.00 – 17.00)
The best city farm in the area! A little further on the bike, but the Christmas fun will be no less. Geertjes Hoeve organizes the Christmas festivities on two Sundays, where you can feed the goats, brush the pigs or roast marshmallows over the fire. Make this day a real adventure, as you can also take part in the Wintertrail. When the children are busy, mum and dad can take part in the tastings in the farm shop. Have fun! And have a good Christmas!
