I can’t say it in any other way: i’m a huge fan of ElVi. This restaurant at the Jan van Scorelstraat is up and running for six years now and it has become a place where pure food , good hospitality and fine wines are highly valued. The warm interior makes it feels like home. Everything they promise, from cooking with seasonal products to a professional eye for craftsmanship, the owners Victor and Elvira prove every night.
I’m not the only one who noticed this. Early November ElVi received, the only restaurant in Utrecht, a Bib Gourmand award of the Michelin restaurant guide. A Bib Gourmand is awarded to restaurants that offer a three-course menu with seasonal products served under 37 euros. The quality of what you get for this amount is really important.
Hostess and sommelier at ElVi, Elvira Kemman : “We are very proud of this Bib Gourmand. This is what we have been working towards and therefore it is great to see that our efforts for high quality food, local produce, tasty and affordable is rewarded by Michelin so quickly. Victor uses sustainable and pure natural seasonal products in our kitchen and we prepare everything ourselves. That is appreciated by our guests and now also by Michelin. We are one of the six restaurants featured in last week released restaurant guide ‘Lekker’ as the best restaurants in Utrecht. That is also a sign that we are doing well. We are very happy that we as Elvi, by winning this award, have been noticed as well as the city of Utrecht.”
And I am, like probably many other people, very happy about this. Congratulations to Elvira and Victor, you are an inspiration to many. You will see me soon at ElVi to say cheers on this award!
