Brass

When I have something to celebrate I love to go to Brass. The restaurant is situated in a beautiful building with the grandeur of Utrecht a couple hundred years ago, at Janskerkhof.

When you enter the restaurant: after a warm welcome by entering the restaurant your coat is hoisted up to an inventive coat hanger. Don’t try this at home :-)
Before dinner, or if you have to wait for the rest of the party, have a drink first at the cosy bar. On this side you see the private dining room suitable for small groups. When you eat here it really feels like you sit at the kitchen table at home!

And then the food. The menu changes regularly, influenced by the season, and the young and promising kitchen brigade knows how to surprise you every time with delicious and creative cuisine. The wines are always of exceptional wineries, and are perfectly matched to the menu. Sidney, the owner, loves to tell you everything about it and it sure gives an extra dimension to the Brass experience. I like to be surprised, and always choose for the chef’s menu because I know it is good. And because I know it is too hard to choose between all those delicious dishes  :)  Don’t forget to check out the special brass (what’s in a name) lamps on the ceiling, instant interior inspiration, for sure!

As now they get rid of cars and parking lots at Janskerhof square, it appears to be the perfect place to spend your afternoon in the sun. Not a lot of people discovered it, yet.. So as soon as the sun shines, hurry to the terrace of Brass.

I hope I have something to celebrate soon.. Oh wait, my new position as foody editor for Explore Utrecht of course! ;)
